Added some new vegetation around the yard, with more to come. I picked up a cool tiller attachment for the weed whacker. Nothing like golf in the morning and yard work in the afternoon.

Just a fun composite. We didn't understand Bobby's expression at the moment, but after I added me holding up the shirt it made sense.

Missed it Wednesday. Texas Independence Day, April 21. The following is an account of what took place at this marker. Santa Ana was not captured here but closer to where the monument actually stands. By the way, I like saying it is 15 feet taller than the Washington Monument.

Around 4:30 p.m., the Mexican soldiers awoke from their afternoon siestas to the smell of gunpowder and cries of vengeance. Flushed with victory from the siege of the Alamo, Santa Anna had failed to post sentries to monitor the Texans’ activities.

In eighteen minutes the Texians were in control of the Mexican camp.

The Mexican soldiers were far more trained in martial field tactics and strategy than their Texian opponents. But they were unable to organize under the feverish surprise attack. And the short-range unorthodox brawling of frontiersmen with long knives and clenched fists did not work in their favor.

Over 600 Mexican soldiers were killed, and over 700 were allowed to surrender; nine Texians were killed or mortally wounded. Sam Houston was shot in the ankle. Santa Anna was found the next day hiding in the grass and dressed as a common foot soldier. Source: San Jacinto Museum

Earth Day. Celebrate or not. Hug a tree, smell a rose or throw a can out of your car. Everything is not always as it seems.

We spent Sat. boating on Lake Conroe. The weather was cloudy all day which made it difficult to get good pictures. This was about the best scenic shot there was.

While out in the garden Friday I acame accross this tiny flower amongst some clover. The lines on the petals weren't as noticable until I went to edit the pictures.

By the way, I hope this looks ok (not overly dark or light). I upgraded my monitor yesterday and I do not know if it is calibrated properly. 26" of hugeness. My wife thought it was ironic that the first picture I post (with the huge monitor) was titled tiny.
